The textiles

Knits & Weaves.

Each String Theory scarf begins as yarn and is constructed using one of two techniques: knitting or weaving.

String Theory Travel

“Knitted fabric consists of a number of consecutive rows of loops, called stitches. As each row progresses, a new loop is pulled through an existing loop.

Weaving is a method of fabric production where two distinct sets of yarns are interlaced at right angles to form a fabric.”

A top quality textile begins with only the best yarns. We meticulously sought out soft, long-wearing merino, cotton and alpaca and found these in Italy and Peru.”

Fabrication partners.

To ensure quality, equity and design integrity, we work closely with our production partners. Our textiles are knit and woven in artisanal mills and are then hand finished by highly skilled sewers. The expertise of these partners informs our design process and is integral to maintaining high standards of quality throughout the production.

Care for your scarf.

With proper care, a String Theory scarf will look and feel good for a very long time. Please either dry clean or wash gently in cold water and hang to dry. Before storing merino and alpaca for long periods, wash then seal in an airtight container.
